Explorations is a personal exploration created while dipping my toes into Houdini’s Vellum — intentionally lightweight, curious, and process-driven.
The initial simulations were set up in Houdini, focusing on understanding Vellum’s behavior and constraints rather than pushing for complexity. Lighting and composition were then developed in Cinema 4D and rendered with Redshift, where most of the visual decisions took shape.
I spent a lot of time experimenting with shading and lighting setups and particularly enjoyed working with a linear ACES workflow in combination with Redshift Light Groups (per-light AOVs). This setup proved to be an extremely powerful combination, opening up a wide range of possibilities already at the rendering stage.
The final step was compositing everything in After Effects, where I began to play with the individual light layers, refining balance, contrast, and overall mood.
This project is less about showcasing a finished result and more about exploring workflow, lighting control, and the interaction between procedural simulation, rendering, and post-production.
